Villa Leandra will give you the change to discover the Abruzzo which is not a well know county but it is worth visiting it.
tha sea lovers will have a chance to visit the adriatic coast by covering few kms from Villa Leandra B&B, in fact just around the corner you will discover relaxing beaches like the ones in Montesilvano, Silvi, Pineto and Pescara; which are the nearest towns on the coast. Also along the Adriatic coast you may find astonishing inlets and gulfs in Fossacesia, Vasto, Francavilla and San Vito. By driwing inland, the mauntain lovers will be able to visit the wonderful National Parks of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga, della Majella d'Abruzzo and the Sirente-Velino ones too. Nearby Villa Leandra there are Castelli the potters town, Guardiagrele famous for its copper, iron and gold artfacts, Picciano where it is possible to visit the museum of rustic arts, Penne the artistic town and the WWF oasis, Scanno where women since ever have been devoted to the bobbin lace, L'Aquila well-known for its historic centre and spanish fortress, Pescara where there is the house of the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio.
The fine food lovers can discover plenty of small restaurants and farm holidays where the traditional cooking it is preserved and where it is possible to taste the old local gastronomy.
There are lost of special food stuff which are worth to be mentioned. Consideration should be given to the (pecorino cheese) Formaggio Pecorino from Farindola,the pasta alla mugnaia and the anellini alla pecorara from Elice, the parrozzo from Pescara, li pallotte cace e ove, lu cuatte from Arsita, the maccheroni alla chitarra with the pallottine, the virtù teramane, the braciole di cavallo and the three mauntains or sise delle monache from Guardiagrele, the bocconotti from Castel Frentano, the pan ducale from Atri, the arrosticini (tipical flesh sheep dish) the mortadelle from Campotosto and last but not least the Corropolese (goat dish) and the fish stock. |
